Micro-distillery in Upper Austria gets a new look.

Carpenter, farmer, and distiller Anton Butzenlechner crafts an exceptional range of clear fruit brandies and herbal liqueurs in his personal distillery on his farm in Upper Austria.

Surrounded by rolling hills and picturesque fields, Anton uses organic fruits and locally sourced ingredients, ensuring the highest quality in every bottle. What began as a passion project for friends and family soon gained momentum at the local farmers’ market. With over 20 carefully distilled flavours, Anton saw the potential for expansion and approached me to brand his liqueurs.

He wanted a brand that felt authentic—true to both himself and his craft. The challenge was to create a minimal yet distinctive identity that would set him apart from other micro-distilleries. Rooted in his own name, BUTZI’S was born, creating a personal and memorable connection with customers.

Drawing inspiration from Anton’s passion for woodwork and carving, along with three key elements: purity of flavour, a strong sense of place, and the finest local ingredients. A bespoke wordmark and carved-style illustrations captured the craftsmanship behind his spirits, while clean, minimal typography reflected their purity. To honour the distillery’s origins, I incorporated its geographic coordinates as a subtle nod to its idyllic setting.

Anton needed a flexible labelling system, so I designed a generic base label, with flavour-specific tags added post-filling. Ingredient-inspired illustrations were reserved for marketing and merchandise, enriching the brand’s storytelling.

The brand launched at the local farmers market, where it was met with enthusiastic reception from a broader audience, marking an exciting new chapter for Anton’s craft.
