SCI_ART is an art, science, and technology symposium that took place in Ottawa.
SCI_ART brought together artists, scientists and academics for a two-day program of panel discussions, artist talks, performances and book launches to present an array of diverse viewpoints and approaches to understanding artistic and scientific collaboration. The symposium examined new art forms and technological advances that arise from bringing together scientific research and artistic practice.
Many of the invited artists and thinkers in the symposium addressed some of the most challenging issues of our time, from environmental degradation to social challenges, opening up new ways of thinking and seeing the world around us.
Crafting a distinctive font for the event identity served as the cornerstone of the symposium's essence. Drawing inspiration from the precise lines and grids inherent in science and technology, intertwined with the graceful curves found in art and nature, the font harmoniously merges these diverse influences. Embracing a geometric and modular design, it offers versatility in its presentation—whether elongated, compressed, or stacked—adapting seamlessly to different contexts. This inherent flexibility ensures a resounding impact throughout the campaign promotion and, naturally, during the event itself. The boundless potential of the identity mirrors the infinite possibilities within the realms of art, science, and technology.
SCI_ART took place in SAW Gallery, Ottawa, Canada on the 6th and 7th of April 2024.
